Perpetual Adoration

ST. LUKE BLESSED SACRAMENT CHAPEL

The Perpetual Adoration Chapel of the North Deanery

Dedicated September 28, 1997, by Archbishop Daniel M. Buechlein.

The Blessed Sacrament Chapel was established in thanksgiving for all our beloved priests. Eurcharist Adoration is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for visitors and those with committed hours.

As Catholics, we know that Christ is fully present in Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. We are blessed to spend time with Him in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament — a devotion through which we give praise and glory to the Lord while also strengthening our lives of faith.

St. Luke Catholic Church’s Perpetual Adoration Chapel allows the faithful to adore Christ in the Blessed Sacrament 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We welcome anyone who wishes to spend time in prayer, reflection, and meditation to join us in this beautiful practice. Stop by for a few minutes or a full hour — you will be graced, and Christ will be pleased! If you are interested in committing to a regularly scheduled hour, please contact Mark Grider at [email protected].

CHRIST GIVES US 168 HOURS EVERY WEEK! ARE YOU ABLE TO PROVIDE HIM WITH ONE IN RETURN?

WHEN YOU VISIT

Whether you have a committed hour or just stop in for a visit, please remember to:

  • Show respect to Our Lord by bowing, genuflecting, or kneeling on both knees upon entering and leaving the chapel.
  • Sign your name in the chapel book as you enter in witness to your belief in Jesus’ Presence in the Blessed Sacrament.
  • Maintain a respectful silence, speaking only if necessary.
  • If you must leave and no one is present, please close the double doors over the monstrance.

The late John Joseph Cardinal Carberry of St. Louis suggested we spend our time with Jesus in four ways:

  • Adoration - pondering who God is, who am I
  • Contrition - sorrow for sins, mine and the world’s
  • Thanksgiving - for blessings and gifts from God
  • Supplication - Petitioning God for our needs

Many adorers pray the Rosary, sit in quiet contemplation, read Scripture or spiritual books. When no one else is present in the chapel, those blessed by a quiet moment alone may speak openly with Christ present before them or sing their praise in a favorite hymn. The time is yours, given back to Christ! Let Him guide you!

HISTORY OF THE ST. LUKE ADORATION CHAPEL

The St. Luke Adoration Chapel was founded by a group of devoted laymen and -women who longed to bring perpetual adoration to the parish. It was established in thanksgiving for all our beloved priests and invocation for a bountiful harvest of priests and consecrated religious in the future. Dedicated September 28, 1997, by Archbishop Daniel M. Buechlein, the chapel serves as the perpetual adoration chapel for the entire North Deanery of Indianapolis. All are welcome to visit with Christ as they can or commit to a regular holy hour.

“The Most Holy Eucharist is the real and substantial Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ present under the appearances of bread and wine. After the Consecration of the Mass, only the physical characteristics of bread and wine remain; now, the substance on the altar is Jesus Christ. Each particle of the Sacred Host and each drop of the Precious Blood contains the entire Jesus — the very same Messiah Who lived thirty-three years on earth and Who now lives risen and glorified in Paradise. Since the Redeemer, Who is God, is present in the Holy Eucharist, the Blessed Sacrament deserves the same worship and adoration as that given to the Lord of the Universe.” ~ Msgr. Charles M. Mangan
